About The Feed Reader Lite Module

Use Feed Reader Lite to quickly add RSS and ATOM News feeds to your DotNetNuke portal system. Powerful configuration options allow you to customize the feed to your liking, while default preset options make it easy to get feeds up and running in less than a minute!. Adding a new feed to your site is as simple as providing the feed URL in the feed settings! Advanced users can customize the look and feel using preset styles built into the active portal skin in combination with the customization options available within the module's Edit Feed settings.

Features

• Limit total number of feed items (New in v2.1.0) - Have a feed with many items in it but only want ot show the top ten? Now you can limit the total number of items displayed in the feed reader.
• User Authentication (New in v2.1.0) - Use a username and password to access the feed. Used to display RSS feeds that are secured on internal network resources.
• Description CSS Class Property (New in v2.0.2) - Assign CSS Class for Article Description text. This class will only take effect when the description does not contain HTML formatting.
• Use XSL Transform or Custom Settings (New in v2.0) - New version adds support to choose between original custom settings for feed rendering or save an XSL style sheet and use XSL transform for feed rendering!
• Hide Article Description, ShowArticle Summary or Show Full Article (Updated in v1.07) - Use the Show Description setting in the Edit Feed control to set the display of the article content.  For ATOM feeds that include the full article and RSS feeds that support the "Content Module" element you can show the full article text including any HTML markup included in the body of the article. You can still combine the description length property to limit the length of the description to meet your needs!
• Supports ATOM v1.0 (New in v1.05) - Now supports ATOM version 1.0 feeds!
• Supports ALL RSS Versions (New in v1.05) - Supports all curret RSS version (0.9, 0.91, 0.92, RSS 1.0 and RSS 2.0).
• Show/Hide article info (New in v1.05) - Customize which pieces of the feed articles are displayed.  Optional display items include the following parts of the article: Title, Description, Publication Date and Full Article Link.
• HTML Content (New in v1.03) - Correctly handles and renders HTML content within the feed article description.
• Clear Feed Cache (New in v1.03) - Administartors now have easy access to a ModuleAction item for clearing the feed from the cache to force a refresh from the feed source.
• Backup Feed (New in v1.02!) - Make sure your feed module is always showing content to your users. Add the URL of a second feed to the feed settings . If for any reason your primary News feed is unavailable, the module will load the News feed from the second URL.
• Target Window (New in v1.02!) - Set article title, "read more" and Channel Info image links to open in new window or current window.
• Limit Field Length (New in v1.02!) - Limit the length of the Article Title and Article Description text displayed in the feed reader. A great feature for ensuring content fits well into your overall site look and feel.
• Caching (New in v1.02!) - Caching of the feed source has been added and can be turned on and off.  Caching will reduce the number of requests to the feed source and also help speed up load times for the containing page. Caching for this module will utilize the site cache settings.
• Localization - Feed Reader Lite supports translation of confuration settings through the use of resx files. Date and time values are displayed in the format appropriate for your site's running locale.
• Show/Hide Channel Info - Most feeds provide information regarding their source. You can choose to display this information or not depending on how it fits into your layout.
• Custom Feed Image - Feed channel info sometimes includes an image representative of the feed source. You can choose to whether or not to display this image and even display a custom image of your choice in it's place.
• Limit Number of Feed Items - Choose how many news articles to display from the feed. This can be helpful if you want the feed to take up less space on your page.
• Paging - Turn paging on for the Feed Reader to allow users to scroll through multiple pages of articles from the feed. Even set how many articles are displayed per page. This feature again ensure you can display the content you wish on your site while fitting the module into your skin where appropriate.
• Styles - Use predefined style sheet classes from your portal skin style sheet to customize the look and feel of almost every aspect of the feed display from Channel Info to Article Title to Full Article links. Even customize the text tiself for the link to the full article (i.e. change the text from read more... to View Full Article >>>).
